There are two types of gym girls.

The ones who say, “I’m just going to try one game of padel…” and the ones who are already three WhatsApp groups deep, comparing rackets, booking courts for Monday evenings and searching Amazon for the cutest outfits.

Spoiler alert: they’re actually the same person.

Our little gym crew recently decided to swap barbells for backhands and give padel a go. None of us really knew what we were doing. There were plenty of missed shots, lots of laughing, a few accidental racket clashes and more balls out the court then in.

And honestly? It’s brilliant.

The perfect sport for gym girls

If you love gym classes, CrossFit, Hyrox or strength training, padel feels like the perfect active rest day. You’re moving, sprinting, twisting and working up a sweat without it feeling like a workout. It’s competitive enough to keep everyone engaged but relaxed enough that beginners can join in without feeling out of their depth.

It’s basically coffee, cardio and chaos rolled into one session.

Looking the part (even if your backhand isn’t)

Let’s be honest, half the fun is finding an outfit that makes you feel good. Padel has quietly become one of the most stylish sports around. Think tennis-inspired dresses, flattering skorts, matching sets and clean, sporty colours that look just as good grabbing brunch afterwards as they do on court.

Here are a few Amazon finds that caught my eye.

JINSHI Tennis Dress

This sleeveless tennis dress has a flattering athletic fit with built-in shorts and handy pockets. It’s one of those pieces that feels sporty without trying too hard and works great for padel and a sunny walk afterwards.

GroYolan Colour Block Tennis Dress

If you’re after something with a little more personality, this colour block design is really eye-catching. It feels fresh, modern and perfect for summer matches.

Classic Sleeveless Tennis Dress

Simple, flattering and easy to wear. Nothing says “I’ve got my life together” quite like a collared sports dress. Whether your serve agrees is another question entirely, but you’ll certainly look the part. The kind of dress you’ll probably end up reaching for far more often than you expected because it works for almost any active day.

Gofiep Open Back Dress

If your style leans a little more Instagram than Wimbledon, this open-back design is gorgeous. Breathable, flattering and ideal for warmer days.

ABOCIW Racerback Tennis Dress

Clean lines, sporty shape and easy to style with a cap, crew socks and your favourite trainers. A great everyday option.

JoyGirl Pleated Tennis skort

Probably one of my favourites. The crossover waist and pleated skirt give it a really feminine feel while still being practical enough to run around the court without constantly adjusting everything.

Betaven Pleated Skort

Made from breathable and lightweight material – with built in shorts.

PINSPARK Two-Piece Skort Set

Not everyone loves dresses, so matching skort sets are a brilliant alternative. They give you plenty of freedom to move while still looking effortlessly put together.

Eledizi Womens Tennis Dress with Separate Shorts and Pockets

Fancy something completely different? Go crazy in this bold and versatile tennis dress.

FKEEP Leopard Tennis Dress

Because sometimes neutral isn’t the assignment. If you’re going to miss an easy volley, you might as well do it wearing leopard print.

It’s not about being good

One thing I realised after our first few games is that nobody actually cared who won.

We laughed far more than we competed. Every rally seemed to end with someone apologising, celebrating a lucky shot or chasing a ball into the cage.

It reminded me why I fell in love with fitness in the first place. Not because of personal bests or perfect technique, but because moving your body with friends is genuinely fun.

Final thoughts

If you’ve been thinking about giving padel a try, consider this your sign.

Grab a few friends from the gym, borrow a racket if you need to, don’t take yourselves too seriously and wear an outfit that makes you feel confident.

You might not have the world’s best serve on day one.

But you’ll almost certainly leave with sore legs, a camera roll full of photos, and your next game already booked.

And that’s what being a Padel Gal is all about. 💗🎾
